Welcome to the Valley School of Dance, celebrating its 25th year in 2007 !Our studio is located in historic downtown Geneseo and overlooks the scenic Genesee Valley. The bulding, located on Main Street, dates back to the early mid-1800’s and served for most of those years as an Odd Fellow’s Hall. One of the first things you may notice on entering our front door, is the abundance of original natural woodwork and attractive tin ceilings. The inherent warmth of this physical environment is only enhanced by the welcoming and loving attitude of our teaching staff as well as by all of you – our students, parents and visitors.
Our vision here at the Valley School of Dance is to offer excellence in dance training with an attitude of kindness and respect, to cultivate confidence and self-esteem, and to support the development of the whole person - body, mind, heart and spirit…all through the fun and joy of movement…dance!
It is my great fortune to have co-directed this studio for the past 23 years with my dear friend and colleague, Angela Caplan. Angela has recently stepped into a new role as owner of Radiance Spa & Healing Arts Center at Sweet Briar, Geneseo. We both continue to co-direct Shakti Yoga, which offers classes in Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Ballroom Dance. Class locations are at both Main St. and Sweet Briar. www.sweet-briar.net.
Presently, our long time staff member, Cindy McKinney is serving as Assistant Director for the Valley School of Dance. Cindy is appreciated and loved for her enthusiasm, dedication, high level of teaching, and her love of dance. We are fortunate to have her.
